The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program, launched in 2008, supports world-class doctoral students who exhibit leadership and high standards of scholarly achievement in graduate studies across the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering, and health. It allocates scholarships of $50,000 per year for three years among three federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). These scholarships are non-renewable and require candidates to be nominated by their intended institution of study; direct applications by candidates are not accepted.
