The grant program aims to help eligible communities prepare for or recover from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. It supports a range of disasters including droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornados or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, and chemical spills. The grant focuses on ensuring access to clean water by providing funds for water transmission line projects up to $150,000 and water source projects up to $1,000,000. These projects can include constructing waterline extensions, repairing breaks or leaks in existing distribution lines, constructing water sources, intake, or treatment facilities, and other maintenance tasks to restore the water supply. The ultimate goal is to prevent damage or restore access to clean, reliable drinking water in rural areas and towns, improving the natural environment and potentially encouraging business growth in these areas.
