This grant program aims to assist communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that threaten the safety and reliability of drinking water supplies. It supports a wide range of incidents that do not require a federal disaster declaration, including natural disasters like drought, floods, and earthquakes, as well as disease outbreaks and chemical spills. The grants can be used for various purposes, such as constructing or repairing water transmission lines and water sources, including intake or treatment facilities. With funding limits up to $150,000 for water transmission line grants and up to $1,000,000 for water source grants, this program seeks to prevent damage to or restore clean, reliable drinking water access in eligible rural areas, facilitating environmental improvement and economic development.
