The NIH's Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Short-Term Institutional Research Training Grants (T35) serve to offer domestic institutions funding to provide intensive, short-term research training experiences for health professional students (e.g., medical, veterinary, and other health-professional students) primarily over the summer. It is designed to draw graduate students from the physical or quantitative sciences towards biomedical research careers through short-term involvement in health-related sciences. This program emphasizes deep training experiences that comprehensively expose trainees to biomedical research principles. Although the grant does not permit trainees to lead independent clinical trials, it encourages their participation in clinical trials under a mentor's guidance, equipping them with valuable research experience.
