The McKnight Scholar Awards program is designed to support neuroscientists in the early stages of their careers, encouraging research focused on disorders of learning and memory. The program prioritizes projects that address problems which, if resolved at the basic research level, could have immediate and significant implications for clinical issues. The Award highlights the importance of innovative research in neuroscience, as demonstrated by previous scholars' achievements in discovering critical elements such as receptors for senses, structures of ion channels, neurotrophic factors, and genes affecting memory. Each McKnight Scholar receives $75,000 annually for three years to support their research program, excluding indirect costs.
