Mass Humanities supports the exploration of humanities to foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and our current society, drawing from history and the critical examination of values, beliefs, and cultural heritage.
The Expand Massachusetts Stories-Open Track grant program, backed by Mass Humanities, offers financial support up to $20,000 for initiatives dedicated to gathering, interpreting, and disseminating stories from Massachusetts, particularly emphasizing perspectives and narratives that have been overlooked or marginalized previously. The program is open to a variety of project types including oral histories, community-centered museum exhibitions, discussions on underrepresented local histories, innovative exhibits and programs reinterpreting collections, short documentary films or digital media projects offering new insights on residents' lives, teacher professional development integrating Massachusetts narratives into the K-12 curriculum, and initiatives that promote inquiry and reflection for residents to explore their lived experiences.
