The Idaho Commission on the Arts, under the Office of the Governor, aims to enable access to the arts, arts education, and preserve Idahoans’ cultural and artistic heritage. It supports not-for-profit arts organizations to stabilize their operations for reliable public program delivery. The commission promotes arts education among elementary educators, encourages cultural traditions through convening masters of traditional arts, and fosters artful, culturally rich towns beneficial for Idaho’s prosperity.

This annual grant supports public programs in the arts by Idaho’s arts organizations. The funding amounts are determined based on panel review assessments, the fiscal size of the organization, and previous funding from the Commission. It targets nonprofit organizations, particularly those that have passed an Entry Track review and are moving towards Public Programs in the Arts funding. The grant aims to:

Support artistic excellence in line with the organization's mission by promoting high standards in art creation, engagement with the public, educational opportunities in the arts, and strengthening communities through the arts.
Encourage community access to the arts by expanding and diversifying participant and audience bases, and by focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure funded activities mirror Idaho's diverse cultures and traditions.
Promote organizational best practices in management, including planning, budgeting, evaluating outcomes, documenting activities, and diversifying income sources.
Assist organizations in transitioning to Public Programs in the Arts funding.
