The AWMS Postgraduate Student Research Award is designed to support Masters and PhD students conducting research in areas related to wildlife management. This encompasses a wide range of topics such as pest management, biodiversity assessment, conservation planning, and threatened species recovery. The grant specifically targets postgraduate students registered at Australasian universities, acknowledging the challenges these students face in competing for funding against professional researchers. The awarded funds can be used for any aspect of the applied research, including travel expenses. Recipients are required to engage with the AWMS community by providing a short report to the AWMS Committee and contributing two articles to the AWMS newsletter about their research proposal and the results of their project.
